Belgian Malinois
The Belgian Malinois is both responsible and playful. He can be serious but also mischievious. This combination means sometimes he is difficult to predict so probably suited to more experienced dog owners than to novice owners. Most are fine with older children who are responsible and considerate or children that the dog has been raised with.
This particular breed can be protective and is sometimes known to develope obsessive behaviours if lonely or not paid enough attention. Try to keep this breed busy and do not allow it to become bored to avoid this. Activities such astaking the dog with you hiking or running will help to keep him happy. He is often shy around strangers and usually quite reserved. Sometimes he might think that small pets are prey so a careful introduction is required! However the breed is intelligent and easy to train so this should not be a problem.
The Belgian Malinois has a broad and sporty build, and has a very intelligent and alert expression. He has a thick, double coat, which is short, and the coloring of the coat can be fawn, red, or gray. The Belgian Malinois has fairly big ears, and a lustrous, wide tail. The height of the Belgian Malinois is around 21-26 inches, and these dogs weigh around 45-75 pounds.
This dog that sheds all year around and sheds more in the Spring and the Autumn. Brush his coat on a daily basis during these seasons and once weekly during other times of the year. The grooming requirements for this breed are low despite its heavy shedding.
